Senior Software Engineer AI - Python and Rust

About the role

IdeaCrate is looking for a Senior Software Engineer AI who will own the design, development, integration, deployment and continuous improvement of secure, scalable software and AI-enabled business applications. The role works closely with the CDO to turn business requirements into reliable products, with a hands-on, startup-oriented approach.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production software in Python and Rust, designing backend services, APIs, databases and scalable architecture, and owning code reviews, testing, security and performance.
• Manage the software development lifecycle from requirements and design through CI/CD, deployment, monitoring and maintenance.
• Build and integrate AI features, LLM applications and intelligent workflows, covering use-case definition, data preparation, model/API selection, evaluation, deployment, monitoring and improvement, with data protection, access controls and human oversight.
• Build backend services for iOS/Android apps (authentication, notifications, payments and third-party integrations) and develop REST APIs, webhooks and middleware connecting ERP, CRM and HRMS platforms.
• Translate business needs into technical specifications, milestones and MVPs, coordinate with the CDO, stakeholders and vendors, and produce architecture diagrams, API documentation, release notes and runbooks.

Required profile

• 6-8 years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on product development.
• Demonstrable delivery of AI applications across development, evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
• Experience in a startup, scale-up or product-owning organization; direct product ownership preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent spoken and written English and technical documentation.

Required skills

• Strong production Python and practical Rust development.
• Mobile backends, APIs, ERP/CRM integrations and relational databases.
• Cloud infrastructure, Git, CI/CD, containers, testing and secure engineering.
• Preferred: AWS/Azure/GCP, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Docker/Kubernetes, RAG, LLM evaluation and MLOps, Flutter/React Native, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce.
