Senior/Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services

About the role

WSP in the Middle East is looking for a Senior/Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead the delivery of electrical design for high‑profile building services projects across the UAE. The role focuses on power distribution, lighting, automation, and sustainable electrical solutions from concept through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of complete electrical design packages for complex building services projects.
• Oversee power distribution, lighting, emergency power and UPS system design.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, BS and UAE authority regulations.
• Drive integration of renewable energy and sustainable electrical systems.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients and contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers and review technical deliverables.
• Support project delivery from concept design to final commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
• 10–15 years of building services electrical design experience, including at least 5 years in the Middle East.
• Strong knowledge of regional codes and authority approval processes.
• Proven leadership of design teams and excellent client‑facing communication skills.
