Shipping Agency Manager

About the role

The Shipping Agency Manager will lead daily agency operations, ensuring smooth vessel coordination, port activities, and documentation while delivering high‑quality customer service. This role requires proactive leadership, strong communication, and a solid grasp of maritime regulations and logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily agency operations, coordinating vessel arrivals, departures, berthing, and related port services.
• Liaise with shipowners, charterers, port authorities, customs officials, and service providers to ensure seamless vessel calls.
• Prepare, submit, and process shipping documents, cargo manifests, and clearance paperwork accurately.
• Supervise agency staff, allocate manpower, monitor performance, and maintain productivity.
• Manage agency expenses, port disbursement accounts, invoicing, and coordinate with finance for billing and payments.
• Ensure compliance with maritime laws, port regulations, customs and immigration requirements.
• Identify operational risks, implement corrective actions, and develop SOPs to improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field (preferred).
• Previous experience in shipping agency, port operations, freight forwarding or maritime logistics.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple vessel calls, work under pressure and meet strict operational deadlines.
