Slitting Operator – Packaging Production

About the role

The Slitting Operator works on the shop floor to set up and run slitting machines that cut rolls of packaging material to customer‑specified widths. This position ensures product quality, safety, and efficient production in a sustainable packaging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up slitting machines according to job specifications, sales orders and production schedules.
• Operate the equipment safely and monitor the process to maintain consistent product quality.
• Inspect finished rolls for defects, measure dimensions, and remove non‑conforming material.
• Record production output in the logbook and Oracle system.
• Maintain 5S standards, complete cleaning checklists and perform line clearance.
• Identify recyclable and non‑recyclable waste and label it appropriately.
• Carry out routine maintenance and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues; report major failures to maintenance staff.
• Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE and keep the work area clean.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors and other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
• Suggest improvements to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
