Software Engineer II – Backend

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our backend team at talabat, the leading on‑demand food and Q‑commerce platform in the Middle East. You will work closely with product, data and engineering peers to discover customer needs and deliver high‑quality, scalable services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and release end‑to‑end backend solutions in small, value‑driven batches following our engineering standards.
• Own the scalability and complexity of services, continuously improving the software development lifecycle.
• Support your team’s practices to become a self‑organised, continuously improving unit.
• Question and simplify existing systems, processes and architectures.

Required profile

• Empathetic communicator who can easily build relationships with stakeholders.
• Growth‑mindset professional comfortable with continuous feedback and lean/agile principles.
• At least 3 years of software engineering experience, preferably in an Extreme Programming environment.

Required skills

• .NET, Golang and C# programming languages.
• Test‑driven development, pair programming, simple design and continuous refactoring.
• Automated end‑to‑end testing and quality assurance.
• Microservices, event‑driven and RESTful architectures.
• Relational and non‑relational databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Trunk‑based development and continuous delivery pipelines.
