Sous Chef – Pastry & Bakery

About the role

The Sous Chef – Pastry & Bakery will supervise and coordinate the pastry and bakery team at a luxury hotel in Dubai, ensuring food is presented beautifully, portions are accurate and quality standards are consistently met.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and bakery workers, determining food presentation and creating decorative displays.
• Monitor food quantities, stock of kitchen supplies, and maintain kitchen logs for the food safety program.
• Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out‑of‑stock items, and prepare special meals or substitute items as needed.
• Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks, providing needed items and ensuring proper portioning and garnish.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling and motivating employees.
• Ensure compliance with company safety, security policies, maintain uniform appearance and protect company assets.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• 4‑6 years of related pastry and bakery experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Required skills

• Pastry and bakery production techniques.
• Food safety documentation and stock monitoring.
