Specialist Anesthesia

About the role

Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital, part of M42's healthcare network, is recruiting a Specialist Anesthesia. The specialist provides high-quality perioperative anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, covering pre-anesthetic assessment, administration of anesthesia, intraoperative monitoring, post-anesthesia care, pain control and emergency response, while ensuring patient safety and adherence to clinical and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, including medical history, physical condition and perioperative risks.
• Develop individualized anesthesia care plans tailored to patient needs and procedure requirements.
• Administer general, regional, local and monitored anesthesia care within approved clinical privileges.
• Monitor patients during surgery and procedures to maintain physiological stability.
• Manage airway interventions, hemodynamic monitoring and perioperative complications.
• Provide post-anesthesia care and ensure safe recovery.
• Take part in acute and chronic pain management and multidisciplinary care planning.
• Respond to emergencies such as cardiac arrests, trauma activations and critical care events.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing teams, intensivists and allied health professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and take part in quality improvement, clinical audits and patient safety programs.
• Support education, training and mentoring of junior staff, and comply with DOH, accreditation and infection prevention standards.

Required profile

• MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution.
• Recognised specialty qualification in Anesthesiology meeting Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR).
• At least 2 years of post-specialty experience as a Specialist in Anesthesia.
• Experience in perioperative care, critical care support, emergency airway management and pain management.
• DOH licence or eligibility as Specialist Anesthesia.
• BLS and ACLS certification; PALS preferred.
