Specialist - Family Medicine

About the role

Royal Medical Centre Shahama in Abu Dhabi is recruiting a Specialist in Family Medicine. The role centres on delivering professional, ethical and high-quality clinical care, managing clinical risks, complying with governance standards and keeping accurate medical records, while pursuing continuous professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, professional and ethical clinical services to patients efficiently and effectively.
• Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.
• Maintain accurate medical records and collect, record and maintain patient information such as medical history, reports and examination results.
• Perform duties of a Specialist Family Medicine in line with the Delineation of Privileges, depending on each individual's skills.
• Administer Executive Health Program examinations regularly.
• Order diagnostic laboratory and X-ray tests, determine diagnoses, prescribe therapy and preventive medicine, and immunize patients.
• Review journals and textbooks to stay up to date on techniques, procedures and therapy.
• Prescribe or administer treatment, medication and vaccines, and refer patients to specialists when needed.
• Take part in continuing in-service training and physician conferences.

Required profile

• At least 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience at specialist level (independent of country).
• At least 1 year of specialist-level experience from a Tier 1 country as defined by the UAE healthcare regulator.
• Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty programme (fellowship or diploma) recognised by the UAE authority.
• Certification and registration in a specialty recognised by the UAE authority; eligibility for registration such as membership of a Royal College, Arab Board Certification, MS, DM, MPhil or equivalent.
• Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP).
