Specialist – Food Technology

About the role

The Specialist – Food Technology will operate in a large‑scale, high‑volume food manufacturing environment supporting airline, foodservice and retail production. The role leads technical problem‑solving, drives innovation and mentors junior technologists.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve complex product and process deviations through scientific research, experiment design and data interpretation.
• Provide technical support for new product development and reformulation, including benchtop experimentation, scale‑up testing and formulation evaluation.
• Collaborate with ingredient and equipment suppliers, universities and internal teams to generate innovative solutions and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop and maintain technical SOPs, validation protocols and laboratory instrumentation documentation.
• Lead multiple projects simultaneously, establishing clear plans, timelines and cross‑functional dependencies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, product formulation, DOE, shelf‑life extension and commercialization.
• Proven track record in root‑cause analysis, cost optimisation and mentoring junior technologists.

• Advanced knowledge of food chemistry and ingredient functionality.
• Expertise in processing technologies and product development principles.
• Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical data analysis.
• Analytical testing and interpretation of technical results.
• Food safety standards, quality systems and regulatory requirements.
• SOP development and validation protocol writing.
