Specialist Lifting Engineer

About the role

The Rigging & Lifting Specialist will lead planning, coordination, supervision and assurance of all lifting and rigging activities for the project, ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance with ADNOC, UAE regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review, assess and approve lifting plans, rigging studies, method statements, risk assessments and procedures submitted by contractors.
• Provide technical input for critical, heavy, tandem and engineered lifts, and verify crane selection, capacity, load charts and positioning.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC Codes of Practice, project HSE requirements and applicable standards.
• Verify certification and inspection status of cranes, lifting appliances and rigging gear.
• Participate in pre‑lift meetings, toolbox talks and site inspections, and monitor lifting zones and exclusion areas.
• Support equipment erection, module installation and major construction lifting operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 15+ years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical, including 5+ years in a similar senior lifting role on mega projects.
• Experience on ADNOC, offshore and PMC/EPC projects, with hands‑on crane assembly and heavy‑lifting installations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for lift sketches and calculations.

Required skills

• Crane load chart analysis and configuration.
• Rigging calculations, sling tension and centre of gravity determination.
• Ground bearing pressure and outrigger loading assessment.
• Heavy‑lifting methodologies, tandem and multiple‑crane operations.
• Inspection and certification requirements for lifting equipment.
• Knowledge of standards such as BS 7121, LOLER, PUWER, ASME B30 series, ISO and ADNOC requirements.
