Specialist Physician – Emergency

About the role

The Specialist Physician – Emergency shares the same responsibility as a Consultant Physician for delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centered care. The role also involves supervising and training junior medical staff within the Emergency Division at SSMC.

Key responsibilities

• Provide diagnosis and treatment in accordance with best practice standards under Consultant supervision.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise junior medical staff, jointly assuming responsibility for the care they provide.
• Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings, coordinate with other specialties, and ensure appropriate patient preparation and informed consent for procedures.
• Support out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Contribute to quality improvement, audit activities, and clinical research and publication.
• Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, infection control, and occupational health and safety guidelines.

Required profile

• Board certification in Emergency Medicine; current national medical license.
• Tier 1: No post‑certification experience required; Tier 2: Minimum 2 years clinical experience; Tier 3: Minimum 3 years specialist experience in an internationally accredited institute.
• Eligibility for UAE nationals and non‑UAE nationals enrolled in HAAD‑accredited residency programs.
