Specialist Physician – Family Medicine

About the role

The Specialist Physician in Family Medicine will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care within SEHA Clinics. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role also involves mentoring junior medical staff and contributing to clinical excellence across the division.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients according to best‑practice standards for family medicine.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, sharing responsibility for their patient care.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Review investigation results, adjust treatment plans, and ensure appropriate use of resources.
• Coordinate with other specialties and support services to provide holistic patient care.
• Obtain informed consent and prepare patients for procedures.
• Accept referrals from emergency, primary care, specialty clinics, walk‑ins, and other hospitals.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, covering evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as required.
• Support departmental initiatives, policies, performance management, and incident reporting.
• Attend divisional meetings and undertake additional administrative or clinical duties as requested.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with a specialization in Family Medicine.
• Experience working under a Consultant Physician and supervising junior staff.
• Commitment to evidence‑based, patient‑centred care and clinical excellence.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call rotations and departmental initiatives.
