Specialist Rigging & Lifting Engineer – Offshore Water Injection Project

About the role

The Specialist Rigging & Lifting Engineer will plan, engineer, review and oversee all lifting and rigging activities for an offshore water injection project, ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review lifting studies, procedures, rigging plans and method statements for offshore installation.
• Prepare detailed lift plans, perform engineering calculations for load distribution, sling tensions and crane capacities.
• Support offshore installation of water injection skids, pumps, process equipment, piping modules, structural modules and subsea components.
• Coordinate heavy‑lift operations using offshore cranes and lifting vessels, and provide on‑site technical support.
• Specify, inspect and manage rigging equipment, ensuring certifications and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with LEEA, LOLER, API, ASME, OSHA and client lifting procedures.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, SIMOPS and risk assessment workshops.
• Review contractor lifting studies, verify equipment mobilization and support lifting readiness reviews.
• Prepare and maintain lift plans, rigging studies, method statements, risk assessments and execution reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine or Structural Engineering (or related discipline).
• 10–15 years of rigging and lifting engineering experience, including at least 5 years on offshore oil & gas or energy projects.
• Proven experience with offshore platforms, water injection facilities, EPC projects and heavy‑lift installations.
• Previous Middle East offshore project experience is preferred.

Required skills

• Lift study development, rigging plan creation and load calculation.
• Crane capacity analysis, sling tension and spreader beam design.
• Knowledge of LEEA, LOLER, API, ASME and OSHA standards.
• Experience with offshore installation contractors, lifting vessels and heavy‑lift coordination.
• Risk assessment, HAZID/HAZOP participation and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) preparation.
