Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Water & Wastewater Treatment

About the role

PACT Engineering FZC, part of the PACT group founded in 1987 in the USA, provides advanced engineering and manufacturing solutions for water and wastewater treatment and reuse. It is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a full-time, on-site role in Sharjah, UAE, designing and developing mechanical systems and equipment for water and wastewater treatment projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities and prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Oversee machine and equipment layout to meet project requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support project planning and execution.
• Review vendor designs and technical documentation.
• Take part in R&D initiatives to improve system performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers and give technical guidance.
• Take part in site inspections, installation support and troubleshooting to ensure successful commissioning and long-term operation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline; advanced degree or professional certification is an advantage.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering with experience in industrial systems, preferably in water and wastewater treatment or related process industries.
• Experience in R&D, evaluating new technologies and optimizing designs.
• Knowledge of international standards and codes (e.g. ASME, API, ISO) and familiarity with quality and safety practices.
• Previous experience in the GCC region or similar industrial settings is beneficial.

Required skills

• Machine design and mechanical component selection, including pumps, pressure vessels, piping systems and rotating equipment.
• CAD tools for 2D and 3D modelling, drafting and fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Project management: planning, scheduling, resource coordination and documentation.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
