Staff Nurse – Acute Care Cardiology (In‑patient)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Nurse in Acute Care Cardiology (in‑patient) to provide exceptional care to patients across the cardiovascular continuum. Ideal candidates will have experience in acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias, heart‑failure management, CABG and valve surgery care, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, structural heart procedures, cardiac device management, and post‑cardiac catheterization care.

Key responsibilities

• Complete timely patient admission, ongoing assessments and update care plans based on individual needs.
• Provide direct care and evaluate outcomes, incorporating family‑centered care principles.
• Monitor and document patient condition, effectiveness of interventions, and treatment responses.
• Assess educational needs of patients and families, considering cultural and special concerns.
• Deliver teaching and educational materials to patients and significant others.
• Validate and document patient and family understanding of teaching.
• Administer prescribed medications using barcode scanning in accordance with policies.
• Carry out prescribed treatments following approved protocols and educational procedures.
• Collaborate with other professionals to assess and address health‑care needs of patients.
• Adhere to evidence‑based practice protocols, report needed changes, and participate in outcome evaluation.
• Delegate appropriate components of the nursing care plan to team members.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and family information.
• Respect patient rights and demonstrate a “Patients First” philosophy.
• Incorporate the CCAD Professional Practice model and patient‑safety principles into practice.
• Report errors and near‑misses promptly.
• Complete charge‑capture education and in‑service training within CCAD, entering charges in Epic when not captured automatically.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5–7 years experience in a tertiary‑hospital SDU setting.
