Staff Nurse – Acute Care (In‑patient)

About the role

The Staff Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care on an acute‑care inpatient unit, applying evidence‑based nursing practices to patients of all ages. The role emphasizes family‑centered care, patient education, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Complete timely patient admissions, assessments, and update individualized care plans.
• Deliver direct nursing care, monitor patient conditions, and document outcomes.
• Administer prescribed medications using barcode scanning and follow institutional protocols.
• Perform prescribed treatments and ensure accurate charge capture in the Epic system.
• Educate patients and families, respecting cultural and psychosocial needs.
• Delegate appropriate tasks to nursing team members while maintaining confidentiality.
• Report errors, near‑misses, and participate in evidence‑based practice improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum three‑year accredited nursing curriculum.
• At least two years of post‑graduate experience in an acute‑care setting.

Required skills

• Barcode scanning for medication administration.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.
• Charge capture and documentation within electronic systems.
