Staff Nurse - Emergency Room

About the role

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is hiring a full-time Staff Nurse for its Emergency Room in Abu Dhabi. The nurse coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education and transitions of care, while supporting the hospital's mission, vision and values and following the Abu Dhabi and UAE Professional Nurses Code of Conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs), interpret findings, prioritize risks and document data
• Plan care with measurable outcomes, involving patients, families and the healthcare team, and modify the plan as needed
• Implement the plan of care, perform treatments and procedures, administer medications and communicate across care levels
• Teach patients and families, promote healthy lifestyles and evaluate their understanding (teach-back)
• Evaluate progress, attend care rounds, update the attending physician and provide clinical handovers
• Integrate evidence-based practice and research, and take part in performance improvement projects
• Lead by example, coordinate delegated tasks, supervise practical nurses, junior staff and student nurses, and respond to emergencies per organizational policy

Required profile

• At least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an appropriate setting
• Experience requirement waived for graduates of UAE nursing colleges or universities
