Staff Nurse - Pediatric Clinic

About the role

American Hospital in Dubai is hiring a Staff Nurse for its pediatric clinic. The nurse provides hands-on support for a range of pediatric procedures and assessments, works within the nursing process, and collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with aerosol treatment, Bili Check procedure, circumcision, enteral feeding tube insertion, HbA1c testing, influenza and rapid strep point-of-care testing, vaccine administration, pediatric visual screening, blood culture collection, ketone meter use and nasopharyngeal specimen collection.
• Support health history interviews and physical assessments for pediatric patients, infant and toddler oral care, oral drug administration, oro-nasopharyngeal suctioning and throat swab collection.
• Provide age-specific, patient-centered care using the nursing process, perform problem-focused assessments and coordinate care plans with the family and multidisciplinary team.
• Document in the medical record, maintain supplies and equipment, handle controlled drugs safely and meet mandatory education requirements such as JCIA standards.
• Take part in unit meetings, quality improvement activities, annual competency reviews and continuous learning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (minimum 3 years full-time) or a nursing degree (minimum 2 years).
• Registered nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia; UAE nationals are exempt from experience and clinical training requirements.
• Valid license to practice in the home country or last place of employment.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent post-graduate experience in pediatrics nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is stated as essential.
