Staff Nurse - Surgical Wing

About the role

SSMC is hiring a Staff Nurse for its surgical wing in Abu Dhabi. The nurse coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education and transitions of care, while supporting professional nursing practice across the continuum of care and adhering to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs), interpret findings, prioritize risks and document data.
• Develop individualized plans of care with patients, families and the healthcare team, using evidence-based practice and measurable outcomes.
• Implement the plan of care, perform treatments and procedures, administer medications and communicate relevant information across care levels.
• Provide health teaching and promotion, evaluate patient understanding and revise the plan of care, and give clinical handovers and attend care rounds.
• Integrate evidence and research into practice and take part in performance improvement projects.
• Lead by example, coordinate and supervise delegated tasks, and supervise practical nurses, junior staff and student nurses.
• Uphold ethical practice, speak up on safety and quality concerns, and respond to emergencies in line with organizational policy.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, or a nursing degree of at least two years' duration.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an appropriate setting; the requirement is waived for UAE nursing college/university graduates who have completed their internship.
• Registration as a registered nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia (the text is cut off).
