Staff Nurse - Urgent Care General OPD

About the role

American Hospital Dubai is hiring a Staff Nurse for its Urgent Care General OPD. The nurse provides direct patient care and coordinates patient care activities across paediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations, working within a multi-disciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide age-specific, patient-centred care using the nursing process, including problem-focused assessments of patients and families.
• Coordinate and plan critical care and clinical pathways, revise care plans and initiate transfer plans as needed.
• Document all relevant data in the medical record and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Handle narcotic, controlled and semi-controlled drugs safely and document as per policy.
• Complete unit competencies such as pain management and emergency department device use, and take part in CQI activities and unit committees.
• In the satellite clinic: identify patients accurately, respond to emergencies, give care before and after procedures, book appointments, follow up diagnostic tests, keep consultation rooms clean, educate patients on discharge and report equipment needing planned preventative maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (minimum 3 years full-time) or a nursing degree (minimum 2 years).
• Registration as a registered nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia; UAE nationals are exempt from experience and clinical training requirements.
• Valid license to practice in the home country or country of last employment.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent post-graduate experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is essential.
• Assessment of patients' physical and psychological needs and care coordination and prioritisation.
