About the role

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend to lead the design and scaling of a global payments infrastructure platform. This remote‑first position focuses on building resilient, high‑volume distributed systems that power mission‑critical financial transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive backend engineering strategy across multiple teams, aligning architecture with product goals.
• Design, implement, and evolve scalable, reliable distributed systems for global payment flows and partner integrations.
• Act as the technical authority for third‑party PSP and partner connectivity, ensuring seamless integration experiences.
• Influence engineering practices through design reviews, code contributions, and mentorship.
• Identify and resolve cross‑team dependencies and technical bottlenecks before they impact delivery.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to shape roadmap priorities based on technical constraints.
• Promote engineering excellence by adopting testing strategies, rigorous documentation, and scalable design principles.

Required profile

• Deep backend engineering expertise with a proven track record in complex, distributed systems.
• Experience operating at a senior staff or principal level, influencing architecture across multiple teams.
• Strong understanding of payments infrastructure, developer platforms, or complex integration systems.
