Static Equipment Engineer

About the role

The Static Equipment Engineer is responsible for the functional management of static equipment maintenance activities within an assigned area. The role covers corrective, routine and preventive maintenance using a Computerized Maintenance Management System, and includes supervising contractors' technicians and supporting investigations into equipment failures.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the EPCL Incident Command System or the direction of the Emergency Command Centre Commander / Incident Commander.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental policies are followed by staff and contractors.
• Carry out static maintenance and preventive maintenance programmes, including troubleshooting vessels, columns, fired heaters and heat exchangers.
• Support the senior static engineer in investigating equipment failures and root cause analysis.
• Propose new budget items, use the approved yearly budget and report progress to the senior static engineer.
• Execute planned work during refinery T&I shutdowns and complete work according to the PM schedule and work requests, updating costs and repair history in SAP or another CMMS.
• Manage allocated resources, supervise contractor technicians, and support the senior engineer in monitoring contractors, preparing technical requirements for quotations and inspecting delivered spare parts.
• Train staff, including on-the-job training for UAE nationals, and respond to emergency call-outs from operations.
• Comply with information security policies, classify information assets, take part in security training and report security incidents.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineering graduate from a recognised college or university.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a refinery or petrochemical environment covering maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with refining safe working procedures and industry standards and codes.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Computer literacy and experience with a computerized maintenance management system such as SAP, Oracle or Maximo.
• Knowledge of industry standards and codes.
