Supermarket Accountant

About the role

Golden Cart Supermarket is looking for a dedicated Accountant to manage its financial records, ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations, and deliver accurate financial reporting. The role supports day‑to‑day financial operations, cost control, and contributes to the overall growth of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update ledgers, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Process invoices, receipts, payments, credit notes, and reconcile bank statements and cash balances.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Ensure all transactions comply with UAE VAT laws, prepare and submit VAT returns, and keep VAT documentation.
• Monitor inventory valuation, COGS, and assist with periodic inventory audits.
• Process monthly payroll, employee reimbursements, and manage petty cash.
• Support external auditors and implement internal controls for asset protection.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail or FMCG.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently.
• Excellent English communication; Arabic is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, or ERP systems.
• In‑depth knowledge of UAE VAT compliance.
• Bank reconciliation expertise.
• Cost‑control and inventory valuation skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis).
