Supervisor Clinical Dietitian - Genetics Counselling

About the role

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) is hiring a Supervisor Clinical Dietitian for its Genetics Counselling department in Abu Dhabi. The role supports the direct manager in supervising and managing the department and delivers specialized, individualized medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to inpatients and outpatients through a multi-disciplinary approach, following the American Dietetic Association's Nutrition Care Process.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement nutrition care protocols and guidelines based on evidence-based practice.
• Assess patients and individualize care using the Nutrition Care Process, and update department standards, clinical practice guidelines and procedures.
• Provide dietetic support and advice for patients with a wide range of clinical conditions and comorbidities.
• Supervise and evaluate department employees, including objective setting, annual leave, supervision and reflective practice; coordinate dietetic students and graduates.
• Manage workload allocation within the specialist area, resolve routine patient complaints and monitor departmental data and statistics.
• Implement department policies and the annual business plan, and identify potential senior dietitians to cover the role in absence.

Required profile

• At least 10 years' experience as a Clinical Dietitian in an acute care facility, plus 4 years in management or supervisory roles in dietetics.
• Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition and Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, or Health Science with a major in Nutrition plus a post-graduate diploma or master's in Dietetics.
• Active membership of a nutrition society or association and current national license or registration.
• Desired: MSc in Nutrition and Dietetics, or a master's in healthcare, management or administration, or Certified Nutrition.
