Supervisor, Workshop (Aids to Navigation)

About the role

This role ensures that all Aids to Navigation (AtoN) vessels and associated marine workshop and yard activities in Abu Dhabi waters under the control of PPA are kept in perfect condition to minimise breakdowns. It also ensures adherence to the international IALA navigation standards and acts as the focal point for AtoN operations maintenance, so that training and deployments are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the AtoN Manager on operations so that work aligns with corporate requirements, ADNOC PPA and IALA standards.
• Oversee the installation of mooring and lighting equipment on AtoNs and coordinate yard activities such as crane operations, welding and painting.
• Verify that all Aids to Navigation are working properly and update the team on any irregularities.
• Plan maintenance programmes, supervise the AtoN maintenance database and lead quality control in line with IALA standards and ISO 9001:2015.
• Ensure operations follow HSE requirements, safe working instructions and SOPs, and review risk assessments and incident reporting.
• Prepare for emergencies: implement on-site survey and emergency response teams, coordinate resource deployment and lead emergency response initiatives.
• Develop AtoN budgets, advise on purchase requisitions and forecast spare parts, consumables and equipment needs to keep stock levels credible and minimise unplanned downtime.
• Train and develop the AtoN team and support other base activities; remain on call 24 hours a day.

Required profile

• HND, Diploma, Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience in the Aids to Navigation field.
• IALA AtoN Level 1 certification.
• STCW, T-BOSIET and Boat Operators Commercial License preferred.
• Heavy truck and forklift driving licenses preferred.
