Survey Engineer – Offshore Projects

About the role

Saipem is seeking a Survey Engineer to join its offshore teams worldwide. You will be responsible for the installation, testing and operation of a wide range of survey and positioning equipment on vessels, working on a 35/35 rotation schedule as part of an international crew.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, test and supervise the installation and configuration of survey equipment.
• Maintain and calibrate GNSS, echo‑sounders, gyrocompasses, motion reference units, bathymetric systems, cross profilers, pipe‑ and cable‑trackers, USBL/LBL acoustic positioning systems, INS, Doppler Velocity Logs and related peripherals.
• Liaise with marine crew and third‑party providers for deck operations, documentation and permissions.
• Ensure safe mobilisations and demobilisations of survey systems and conduct risk assessments.
• Quality‑control data, analyse results and produce accurate reports of equipment performance.
• Maintain offshore equipment inventory, online survey logs and conduct seawater parameter observations.
• Provide technical support to project surveyors and act as an online surveyor or video eventer when required.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of survey engineering principles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field (or equivalent military qualification).
• Fluent English communication skills.
• 2‑3 years of relevant offshore survey experience.
• Hands‑on experience with EIVA NaviPac, TMS, shallow water pipe‑lay (s‑lay) operations, anchor barge operations and GAPS USBL systems.
