System Architect - Turbofan Propulsion

About the role

POWERTECH, a centre of excellence for propulsion technologies within EDGE, designs, engineers and manufactures combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines and turbofan engines for aerospace, defence and autonomous applications, including UAVs. The System Architect and Integration defines and maintains the global system architecture of the turbofan and ensures technical coherence across all subsystems.

Key responsibilities

• Define and support the functional architecture and system breakdown structure to ensure performance compliance of the engine and propulsion subsystem
• Allocate and manage system-level requirements
• Lead trade-offs between performance, cost, weight and durability
• Manage and maintain interface control documents (ICDs, FICDs)
• Ensure architectural consistency across development phases and with Product Management, Module Manager, Certification and Safety engineers, and Integration and Test teams

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in turbofan propulsion, aerospace or other complex engineered systems
• Exposure to customers, OEMs and authorities in complex environments
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and commercial teams
• English proficiency required; unsolicited agency resumes are not accepted

Required skills

• Solid understanding of turbofan architectures and test plan validation, engine performance (build-up, dressing, AGB, ECU, modules, FAN/LPC/HPC/HPT/LPT/TRF/OGV) and integration constraints
• System engineering, MBSE (SysML, V-Cycle), functional declination and standards
• Knowledge of certification schemes (CS-E) and safety principles (FHA, PSSA)
• Preferred: ability to anticipate life-cycle cost, planning and safety impacts, and to structure complex information into product decisions under pressure
