System Engineer

About the role

AIQ, an Abu Dhabi-based technology company developing industrial AI solutions for the energy sector, is hiring a System Engineer. The role maintains, secures and optimises the hybrid IT environments that underpin AIQ's AI platforms and services. It is a full-time position based in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day IT support for laptops, desktops, mobile devices and peripherals, and troubleshoot software, hardware and connectivity issues.
• Handle onboarding and offboarding, including IT inductions, account closures, data backup and access removal.
• Manage identity and access: onboarding, roles, permissions, Conditional Access and MFA, and resolve account lockouts.
• Administer Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint and OneDrive, and enable secure collaboration with external stakeholders.
• Oversee networks, VPN, servers and cloud resources, manage patches, upgrades and performance monitoring, and ensure high availability.
• Enforce security standards (MDM, encryption, patch compliance), monitor security alerts and support InfoSec audits.
• Support project teams with Linux, GPU/AI workstations, DGX, Docker, GitHub/GitLab and other specialised setups.
• Manage IT stock, hardware allocation, procurement requests, license renewals and vendor liaison.
• Act as the single point of contact for IT escalations and coordinate with global support teams and vendors.
• Manage IT service requests through ticketing systems and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Preferred: 5+ years as a systems and business support and cloud administrator.
• Preferred: strong experience in IT asset management and hardware builds (Windows and macOS).
• Preferred: previous help desk or troubleshooting role, ideally in a 24/7 managed services environment.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and analytical skills, with proactive attention to infrastructure performance and security.

Required skills

• Certifications such as Network Administrator, Microsoft MCSA and Microsoft Azure.
• Preferred: Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, Windows Server, Azure and AWS.
• Preferred: knowledge of internet protocols, LAN/WAN, firewalls and DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP.
