System Software/Platform Engineer

About the role

The Technology Innovation Institute’s Robotics Research Center is seeking a System Software/Platform Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high‑performance C++ frameworks and deployment pipelines. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, production‑ready software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system‑level frameworks and core libraries using modern C++ (C++17/20/23) with emphasis on performance and scalability.
• Create and manage containerised environments with Docker and automate deployment, configuration, and scaling using Ansible or similar tools.
• Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and enforce testing standards including unit, integration, and regression tests.
• Collaborate on API design, system architecture, and integration of monitoring/logging frameworks such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in system‑level or framework development with modern C++ and deployment automation.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Modern C++ (C++17 or newer), STL, templates, concurrency, memory management.
• Docker, Ansible, and familiarity with Kubernetes or other orchestration tools.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions.
• Testing frameworks like Google Test, Catch2; test‑driven development.
• Python for scripting and automation.
• Linux development environment and performance optimisation.
