Tailor - Hotel Uniforms and Linen Repairs

About the role

A hotel belonging to the Accor network, which brings together more than 45 brands, 5,500 hotels, 10,000 restaurants and lifestyle destinations, is looking for a tailor in Abu Dhabi. The tailor sews, alters and repairs hotel staff uniforms and guest garments, and maintains hotel linen, working closely with the Uniform Room Attendant and Laundry teams.

Key responsibilities

• Sew, stitch, alter and repair hotel employees' uniforms, including hemming, resizing, button and zipper replacement, patching and other repairs.
• Attend to guest garment alteration and repair requests in line with hotel service standards.
• Ensure uniforms are properly fitted, neat, clean and presentable before issue to employees.
• Inspect garments and linen for damage, defects, stains and wear before repairing them.
• Repair and maintain hotel linen such as bed sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, tablecloths and napkins.
• Take accurate body measurements when needed for uniform fitting and alterations.
• Operate and maintain sewing machines and tailoring equipment safely and efficiently.
• Complete all tailoring work within the required turnaround time and keep records of alterations, repairs and issued items.
• Coordinate with the Uniform Room Attendant and Laundry team, and keep tailoring materials and equipment clean, organised and stored properly.
• Monitor sewing supplies and report shortages of threads, buttons, zippers, fabrics and other materials.
• Follow hotel policies, health and safety standards and departmental SOPs, handling garments and uniforms with care, confidentiality and professionalism.

Required profile

• High school certificate or vocational training in tailoring or garment construction.
• At least 2 years of experience as a tailor, preferably in a hotel laundry or uniform room.
• Good knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques and fabric types.
• Experience operating industrial and domestic sewing machines.
• Previous experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel is an advantage.
