Tax Manager (UAE National)

About the role

The Tax Manager supports the Head of Tax in implementing the Group tax strategy and managing the tax operating model, with responsibility for accurate and timely direct and indirect tax compliance, tax accounting, reporting, controls, documentation and stakeholder coordination across the Group. The role is based in Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Tax in implementing the Group tax strategy and annual tax plan, and manage assigned direct and indirect tax activities in line with approved policies and regulations
• Monitor tax developments and escalate material matters; support tax audits, projects and transformation initiatives
• Prepare, review and file Corporate Tax, VAT, ESR, CbCR, Zakat and withholding tax returns, and review computations and working papers for accuracy and audit readiness
• Coordinate VAT controls, periodic returns and annual wash-up, and maintain the tax compliance calendar, issue log and action tracker
• Maintain tax policies, procedures, process maps and controls, assist with transfer pricing documentation and Country-by-Country Reporting, and identify control gaps
• Prepare management updates, technical accounting papers and internal memoranda, and promote tax awareness across the Group
• Provide day-to-day tax advice, including reviewing tax clauses in contracts, and identify tax efficiencies
• Coordinate responses to auditors, tax authorities, regulators and external advisers, and escalate significant audit findings and disputes

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant, qualified tax professional, or a Bachelor/Master degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience, preferably Big Four or professional advisory followed by in-house experience
• Practical experience in UAE Corporate Tax, VAT, transfer pricing and tax accounting within a financial services or similarly regulated organisation is preferred
• Able to deal with colleagues and customers and deliver service that goes the extra mile
