Teacher - Design and Technology (Food) - Muna British Academy

About the role

Muna British Academy is seeking a teacher of Design and Technology (Food and Nutrition) to start in the 2027-2028 academic year. The post covers the wider Key Stage 3 Technology curriculum and contributes specialist expertise to Food and Nutrition examination pathways as the secondary school expands. The school is part of Aldar Education, a family of schools in the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver practical and theoretical Food and Nutrition teaching at KS3, and later KS4 and KS5, within the Technology curriculum
• Plan and deliver lessons and schemes of work aligned with the National Curriculum for England and the school's chosen exam specifications, including GCSE/IGCSE preparation
• Teach food hygiene, kitchen safety, allergens and dietary needs, and run inclusive practical activities
• Run cooking clubs, creative projects and community activities, and coordinate ingredient and equipment needs
• Assess student progress, give constructive feedback, moderate and standardise assessments and guide practical investigations
• Support SEN, EAL and G&T learners through differentiation and inclusive practice
• Follow the school's behaviour policy, safeguarding and pastoral duties, and take part in departmental planning and professional development

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
• At least 2 years teaching the English National Curriculum
• Experience in an international school and with EAL students
• Ability to deal professionally with a range of stakeholders and to communicate with parents in a diverse, multicultural environment

Required skills

• Strong subject knowledge of food and nutrition and food science
• Ability to plan, sequence and differentiate practical cooking lessons
• Use of assessment data, moderation and exam preparation
• Positive, solution-focused attitude and strong interpersonal skills
