Team Lead - Aviation Maintenance

About the role

The Team Lead manages the assigned Platform Maintenance Operations, including planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance and contract requirements, delivering cost-effective maintenance and repair services to aircraft and assets. The role ensures proactive serviceability and availability of customer aircraft and equipment, allocates and oversees heavy maintenance teams and works under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day maintenance operations so that work follows established policies, processes and procedures.
• Manage maintenance planning at the base to keep repairs and maintenance efficient, productive and cost-effective.
• Support the Operations Manager in setting maintenance planning targets, developing schedules and coordinating short- and long-term maintenance, scheduling and workload planning.
• Oversee and counsel personnel, review and recommend changes to Standard Operating Procedures, and resolve daily maintenance problems.
• Ensure aircraft maintenance is efficient, compliant and safe, and that military aircraft maintenance remains available and meets required standards.
• Develop preventative maintenance schedules and monitor material, spare and consumable usage against budget.
• Contribute to reviews of base assets' physical condition and to safety, quality and environmental compliance.
• Set individual goals, manage performance, develop staff and give feedback; assist the Supply Chain function in contractor negotiations and maintain relationships with third-party providers.
• Prepare statements and reports on time, conduct interviews to fill vacancies, follow departmental policies and SOPs, and may temporarily act as Aviation Maintenance Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Maintenance, or a Technical Diploma at skill level 7 or 9 or equivalent.
• At least 8-10 years of experience in an aerospace maintenance and aircraft operating environment, preferably military, including at least 1 year in a similar position.
• Expert knowledge of maintenance processes and procedures and of OEM maintenance manuals.
