Team Leader - Aircraft Sheet Metal & Composite Structures

About the role

This role leads and supervises aircraft sheet metal and composite structure maintenance, covering inspections, repairs, modifications and maintenance of structural components. Work must be done safely, on time and in line with regulatory requirements, OEM specifications and company quality standards, while maintaining high airworthiness and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of Sheet Metal and Composite Structure Technicians, allocate manpower, tools and materials, monitor progress, give technical guidance and run shift briefings, debriefings and handovers.
• Promote a positive safety culture, support employee development through coaching, mentoring and performance feedback.
• Perform and supervise structural inspections, repairs and modifications on airframes such as fuselage, wings, flight control surfaces, cargo compartments, engine nacelles, fairings, panels, honeycomb structures and carbon fiber and fiberglass assemblies.
• Ensure work follows the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Engineering Orders (EO), Service Bulletins (SB), Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) and applicable regulations.
• Supervise fabrication, repair and replacement of metallic structures, including complex sheet metal repairs in aluminum, titanium and stainless steel, and proper installation of rivets, bolts and structural hardware.
• Lead composite repair using approved repair schemes, including damage assessment, surface preparation, bonding, vacuum bagging, heat and pressure curing, laminate repairs and core replacement, coordinating with NDT personnel when needed.
• Verify quality standards, review maintenance documentation, ensure compliance with GCAA regulations and company procedures, and support internal and external audits.
• Monitor safety procedures, PPE use and hazard reporting, and coordinate manpower, tooling, consumables and spare parts.
• Conduct on-the-job training for technicians and apprentices, assess competencies and support qualification and authorization.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (3+ years) or diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Recognized training in Aircraft Structures, Sheet Metal Repair and Composite Repair.
• Fluent in English; minimum 3 years' experience in sheet metal and composite structure repairs.
• 5-7 years with qualifications, or 8-10 years without.
• Current Composite Personal Authorisation Certificate (PAC), Human Factors Training, Fuel Tank Safety (FTS) Training and EWIS Training.
• Working knowledge of AMOS.
