Technical Architect – eCommerce Applications

About the role

The Technical Architect will define and guide the technical and application architecture for enterprise eCommerce solutions, translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and practical designs across applications, integrations, cloud platforms, data flows, and enterprise systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end eCommerce application architectures across custom, SaaS, and cloud services, establishing standards for modularity, performance, reliability and supportability.
• Translate business needs into detailed solution designs, evaluate alternatives, assess risks and costs, and provide guidance throughout delivery to ensure alignment with approved architecture.
• Identify and embed AI, automation, machine‑learning and generative‑AI capabilities into applications, ensuring data quality, privacy, security and responsible AI principles.
• Support legacy application modernization, reducing technical debt through re‑platforming, refactoring, containerisation and cloud adoption.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security architects to embed hosting, compute, network, identity, access and resilience requirements into designs.
• Guide cloud‑native and platform enablement, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and automation to improve delivery speed and operational maturity.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing enterprise‑scale eCommerce solutions and aligning them with broader technology landscapes.
• Proven ability to mentor engineering teams, lead architectural reviews and resolve design conflicts.
• Strong knowledge of security‑by‑design, cloud platforms, integration patterns and AI‑enabled application architectures.
