Textile Print Designer

About the role

Develop original textile prints for Carter & White’s Womenswear and Girlswear collections, working closely with the Fashion Designer. Translate creative direction into moodboards, print concepts and fully editable artwork for sampling and production.

Key responsibilities

• Understand the Creative Director’s vision and create moodboards with research, visual references, motifs and colour palettes.
• Research print trends and seasonal colour directions, then create original artwork including florals, botanicals and abstract designs.
• Develop all‑over repeats, borders, coordinated print variations and placement prints, adapting scale and layout to garment styles.
• Prepare accurate print mock‑ups on garment sketches, apply artwork to digital patterns and ensure correct placement across seams and panels.
• Produce production‑ready files with precise repeats, dimensions, colour references and clear instructions, and maintain an organised archive.

Required profile

• Qualification in Textile Design, Print Design, Fashion Design or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience developing textile prints for fashion, with a strong portfolio.
• Ability to interpret the Creative Director’s vision and translate it into cohesive print designs.
• Practical understanding of garment construction, digital patterns and the impact of print direction on cutting layouts.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
• Experience with CLO3D or similar 3D garment software (advantage).
• Experience with AutoCAD for working with CAD/pattern files (advantage).
