Tool Room Technician

About the role

The Tool Room Technician manages the daily issuance and receipt of tools, equipment, consumables and expendables kept in the tool room, keeping production equipment up and running. The role is based in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, store and issue hand tools, machine tools, dyes, materials and equipment in the industrial establishment.
• Issue tools and equipment to workers and keep records of what is issued and returned, manually or using a computer.
• Locate lost or misplaced tools and equipment.
• Prepare periodic or perpetual inventory of tools and equipment, and order new equipment when needed.
• Replenish stock by receiving, unpacking and storing incoming items and requisitioning more.
• Inspect and measure tools and equipment for defects and wear, visually or with a micrometre, and report damage to supervisors.
• Repair, service and lubricate tools and equipment using hand tools, spray gun or pressurised spray cans.
• Deliver tools, equipment and consumables to workers, manually or by hand truck.
• Mark and identify tools and equipment with tags, stamps or electric marking tools.
• Maintain records of tool use and ensure tool control and accountability follow current policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental management policies across the facility's maintenance operations.
• Sponsor participation in change initiatives, programmes and projects reflecting international best practice.
• Perform other related duties as directed.

Required profile

• Technical Engineering Diploma (Mechanical, Electrical or Avionics).
• At least 3 years of experience in tool control, ideally with a military aircraft.
• No nationality restriction.
