Unit Manager – Labour & Delivery

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Unit Manager to lead the Labour & Delivery team, ensuring patient‑centred, evidence‑based care and operational excellence in a high‑volume hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and management guidance to midwifery and nursing staff.
• Ensure adherence to clinical standards and evidence‑based patient care practices.
• Foster a positive patient experience by developing employees and promoting team engagement.
• Manage clinical and non‑clinical resources efficiently to support safe patient care.
• Monitor compliance with legislative, regulatory and clinical standards for continuous quality improvement.
• Lead obstetric emergency preparedness, training and response, including PROMPT drills.
• Plan and adjust capacity, staffing and patient flow in response to changing demand.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery (essential); Master’s degree in Midwifery/Nursing or related field (desired).
• 3‑5 years of senior nursing experience, preferably in a private hospital.
• 5‑10 years of senior midwifery experience, including management of a high‑volume Labour & Delivery service (desired).

• Implementation of Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) standards.
• Advanced cardiotocography (CTG) interpretation.
• Change management and capacity planning.
