Veterinarian – Wildlife Rescue Centre

About the role

The Veterinarian for the Wildlife Rescue Centre provides comprehensive veterinary care, medical oversight and welfare leadership for all animals under the centre’s care. The role supports rescue, stabilization, treatment, rehabilitation, transfer, release and long‑term management of rescued, confiscated, orphaned and surrendered wildlife.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical veterinary care including examinations, diagnostics, surgery, anesthesia and medical treatment for a wide range of wildlife and exotic species.
• Develop and implement treatment and rehabilitation plans, monitor recovery, and adjust care as needed.
• Lead biosecurity, disease prevention and population health programs, including vaccination, parasite control and health surveillance.
• Provide veterinary support during animal transfers, releases and emergency response operations.
• Maintain accurate veterinary records, regulatory reporting and documentation of clinical findings.
• Train and mentor animal‑care staff, veterinary technicians and interns on health monitoring, safe handling and welfare assessment.

Required profile

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent qualification recognised in the UAE.
• Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the UAE.
• Minimum 5 years of professional veterinary experience, preferably with wildlife, exotic or zoological species.
• Proven experience in clinical examinations, diagnostics, surgery, anesthesia and medical treatment.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary animal‑care teams and supporting field rescue operations.
