Water & Climate Internship – Abu Dhabi (2 months)

About the role

The Water & Climate Internship supports UNICEF’s Gulf Area Office in Abu Dhabi for a two‑month period, contributing to child‑focused activities at the DIHAD Water conference, the Water conference in December, and COP 31 in November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and monitor updates on the two UAE‑based water events and the COP 31 conference in Turkey.
• Track governmental and private‑sector engagements that focus on children across all events.
• Assist in designing sessions and activities that address children’s needs within each conference.
• Report on and draft stories highlighting UAE participation and child‑focused outcomes from the three events.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or graduated within the past two years from an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. programme (preferably international development, social work, media & communication or environmental studies).
• Interest and exposure to political and ethical discussions on water and climate issues.
• Proficiency in at least one UNICEF working language (English, French or Spanish) and fluency in the office language.
• Strong academic performance as evidenced by recent transcripts.
• No immediate relatives working for UNICEF and at least 18 years old.
