Workshop Technician III - Aircraft Components Maintenance

About the role

This position leads the maintenance, repair and overhaul of large and highly complex aircraft components such as flight control and hydraulics, and inspects repairs to ensure they follow technical orders, standards and regulations. It also covers O, I and D level work where applicable.

Key responsibilities

• Follow day-to-day operations of your own job and ensure daily production targets are met
• Adjust, repair or replace defective components using blueprints, schematics, handbooks and technical documents, with hand tools, special tools and test equipment
• Inspect calibration of installed or repaired equipment and test repaired components and systems, approving them before sign-off
• Add test flight control components and hydraulics under simulated or actual conditions using oscilloscopes, digital meters, counters and circuit analysers
• Lead scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair and troubleshooting tasks, and advise on component maintenance and inspection
• Review maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems and historical reports, and report findings to the supervisor
• Initiate deficiency reports, maintenance analysis documents, technical data changes and equipment records, and prepare status reports
• Provide on-the-job training and coaching to technicians and senior technicians, and act as technical expert for the team on complex component issues
• Comply with safety, quality and environmental policies, the company QMS and SMS, and departmental SOPs

Required profile

• Technical diploma or skill level 7 or 9 certified in the trade, QC or Train the Trainer
• Military aircraft experience letter or equivalent
• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in maintenance operations at an airbase
• Knowledge of aircraft launching and recovering processes and basic maintenance procedures
• Understanding of aircraft structure, components, troubleshooting, wiring systems and functions
