Assistant Chief Engineer (Engineering & Facilities)

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the engineering department of Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Sharjah, ensuring all mechanical, electrical and safety systems operate reliably. This full‑time position involves hands‑on maintenance, safety testing and coordination with guest services to deliver a high‑standard hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances and equipment across the property.
• Calibrate controls, gauges and meters; operate shut‑off valves and power lifts.
• Conduct life‑safety checks, including fire‑pump and generator run tests, and inspect fire‑sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
• Maintain inventory, order parts, and keep purchase‑order logs up to date.
• Respond to guest repair requests and assist in developing disaster‑response protocols.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling and performance coaching of engineering staff.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, reporting hazards and completing required certifications.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum two years of relevant engineering or facilities maintenance experience.
• Ability to work at heights, lift up to 50 lb and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting and climbing stairs.
• Professional appearance and ability to interact courteously with guests and colleagues.
