Assistant Head Teacher – Teaching and Learning Coach (Primary)

About the role

GEMS Education is looking for an Assistant Head Teacher – Teaching and Learning Coach for a high‑performing primary school in Dubai. The role combines senior leadership with hands‑on coaching to raise teaching standards and improve student outcomes across the primary phase. You will work closely with the Principal and senior leadership team to drive school‑wide improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Principal and senior leadership team in strategic school development and quality assurance.
• Monitor, evaluate and enhance teaching and learning across all year groups.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and tailored professional development for teachers, including demonstration lessons and lesson modelling.
• Lead observation cycles, learning walks, planning reviews and work scrutiny.
• Ensure consistent application of curriculum policies, schemes of work and assessment frameworks, including for SEN, ELL and gifted learners.
• Design and deliver CPD sessions aligned with research‑based practice and school priorities.
• Analyse assessment data to identify performance gaps and inform improvement actions.
• Promote a positive learning culture, build strong parent relationships and contribute to school events.

Required profile

• Experienced primary‑phase practitioner with a proven track record of raising standards.
• Dynamic, collaborative leader committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
• Strong ability to coach, mentor and develop teachers.
• Excellent analytical skills for using data to drive improvement.
• Effective communicator with the ability to build relationships with staff, parents and the wider community.
