Associate Director – Mechanical Engineering

About the role

This senior position moves you from delivering projects to shaping them, giving you ownership of complex, high‑value MEP programmes while building and leading a high‑performance engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers, creating a high‑performance culture.
• Act as the technical authority on projects, guiding design and delivery.
• Manage projects end‑to‑end, ensuring client expectations are met on time and within budget.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to commercial performance, including fee proposals and project profitability.
• Play an active role in office leadership and wider business strategy.
• Ensure health, safety and compliance standards are consistently met.

Required profile

• Strong background in mechanical building services design within an MEP consultancy.
• Experience leading complex projects and managing multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Commercial awareness with ability to manage budgets and project profitability.
• Confident communicator engaging both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of relevant codes, standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent); chartered status preferred.
