AV Technician

About the role

We are looking for an AV Technician to join the engineering team at Fairmont The Palm, a luxury resort in Dubai. The role involves ensuring all audio‑visual equipment across banquet halls, meeting rooms and public areas is operational, well‑maintained and ready for guest events.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine checks, preventive maintenance (PPM) and minor repairs on AV systems and related equipment.
• Maintain and store banquet‑hall AV equipment, ensuring it is ready for use at all times.
• Arrange AV setups in advance of functions and restore them to proper working condition after events.
• Inspect facilities for compliance with operational standards and safety procedures.
• Schedule and coordinate repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools and AV devices.
• Order AV‑related materials, track deliveries and ensure timely availability.
• Coordinate with IT for software, network and control‑room issues.
• Respond immediately to emergency alarms (fire, water, gas) and notify the shift engineer of any electrical faults.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in electrical and AV control rooms.
• Monitor energy consumption and follow up on daily pending work.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an AV Technician or in a similar technical support role.
• Hands‑on experience with painting, plumbing, electrical wiring and basic maintenance tasks.
• Highly responsible, reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).

Required skills

• AV system maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Audio‑visual equipment operation (BGM systems, control panels, projectors, etc.).
• Basic electrical wiring and circuitry.
• Fundamental plumbing and painting skills.
• Preventive maintenance (PPM) planning and execution.
• Coordination with IT for network‑related AV issues.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for safety compliance.
