Cargo Agent

About the role

The Cargo Agent is responsible for overseeing the acceptance, handling, and delivery of cargo while ensuring a high level of customer service. This role works closely with porters, equipment operators, and other logistics personnel to guarantee safe and efficient cargo movement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee acceptance and delivery of cargo, maintaining high customer‑service standards.
• Supervise porters and equipment operators during cargo build‑up and break‑down.
• Inspect, verify, and record cargo at each stage of handling.
• Conduct inventory checks on customer request and document any deviations.
• Track cargo details using both manual and automated systems.
• Validate all cargo documentation to ensure compliance and safety.
• Support officials in safe cargo movement and ensure dangerous goods are handled per IATA regulations.
• Use a PDA to perform job functions and record data.
• Ensure time‑ and temperature‑sensitive shipments meet EU GDP requirements.

Required profile

• At least a Plus Two certificate or equivalent.
• Experience in cargo, logistics, warehouse, or airline operations is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of cargo handling procedures and documentation.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Physically fit to handle cargo‑related activities.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Basic computer knowledge.
