Civil Engineer

About the role

HDR is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its Dubai team and contribute to the delivery of infrastructure projects from concept through construction. The role involves designing, coordinating and supporting civil works while ensuring quality, safety and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and assist in project delivery, preparing drawings, reports, specifications and calculations for site layouts, grading, drainage, paving and utilities.
• Liaise with the design team to produce coordinated, technically compliant designs.
• Conduct regular in‑house design reviews and checks, and produce feasibility options and reports.
• Ensure designs meet sustainable, cost‑effective and safe standards, adhering to relevant codes, RIBA stages and CDM regulations.
• Implement and support QA systems, carry out site visits and risk assessments.
• Attend progress, design and coordination meetings, maintaining strong client and design‑team relationships.
• Interact with statutory authorities to obtain necessary approvals and support tender and construction queries.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Sound understanding of highway design, grading, paving, drainage, underground utilities, building elements, foundation options, external works and ground improvement methods.
• Ability to prepare and sign off calculations, drawings and specifications in line with standards and codes of practice.
• Familiarity with RIBA stages, CDM regulations and QA procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
