Civil Engineer – RTA Roads Experience

About the role

The Civil Engineer will support the Resident Engineer in delivering bridge, underpass and related civil works for RTA projects in Dubai. This contract position involves overseeing construction activities, ensuring compliance with local standards, and maintaining quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer in managing bridge, underpass and associated civil works across multiple contract packages.
• Review contractor progress, schedules, method statements, ITPs and ensure alignment with RTA standards and project specifications.
• Monitor on‑site activities including earthworks, concreting, structural works, waterproofing, post‑tensioning, bearing installation and asphalt works.
• Verify material deliveries against approved submittals and contract requirements.
• Oversee contractor manpower, equipment utilization and daily progress reporting.
• Review technical submittals such as shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, method statements and NCR close‑outs for compliance with RTA and Dubai Municipality regulations.
• Conduct supervision and quality inspections of structural elements like piers, abutments, retaining walls, wing walls, slabs, box culverts, expansion joints, bearings, precast elements and waterproofing systems.
• Identify deviations from contract documents, propose corrective actions and ensure timely rectification.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of RTA standards, Dubai Municipality codes and UAE infrastructure guidelines.
• Experience with bridge structures, underpasses, box culverts, post‑tensioning and precast/prestressed concrete.
• Proven ability to manage construction activities, review technical documentation and enforce quality standards.
