About the role

The Commis 1 supports the culinary team at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, preparing special meals, maintaining food quality, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. This full‑time, onsite position is ideal for candidates with solid food‑preparation experience who thrive in a fast‑paced hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate oven, broiler, grill and roaster temperatures.
• Thaw frozen foods safely in refrigeration units.
• Ensure proper portioning, arrangement and garnish of dishes.
• Maintain food logs and monitor quality and quantity of prepared items.
• Communicate assistance needs during busy periods and inform chefs of excess items for daily specials.
• Update service staff on menu specials and out‑of‑stock items.
• Prepare cold foods and follow food‑preparation checklists.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect confidential information.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of relevant culinary experience (approximately 36 months).
• Technical or vocational school education in culinary arts or related field (preferred).
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and work in a hot kitchen environment.
