Commis 1 – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis 1 supports the kitchen team at Le Meridien in Fujairah by preparing meals, maintaining food quality, and assisting with daily operations. This role involves handling special and cold dishes, monitoring inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals, substitute items, and cold foods according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters; pull and thaw frozen items.
• Maintain food logs, monitor portion sizes, garnish, and overall food quality.
• Communicate with chefs and service staff about specials, excess items, and out‑of‑stock menu items.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee coaching.
• Follow company safety, security, and uniform policies; report maintenance needs and incidents.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 25 lb, and reaching overhead.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• At least 3 years of related kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and follow safety procedures.
